Who doesn’t love a good sandwich?! I’m pretty sure they’re part of everyone’s childhood which quickly turn into adulthood favorites. Now – I’m not talking about PB&J over here, at Subs and Suds they’re crafting quality sandwiches and serving up some craft beer (suds – get it?!) to wash it down. Located in the downtown Fort Lauderdale area in a very unassuming spot, the sandwich shop (which was also previously a sandwich shop for years) is pumping out the goods. If you are familiar with the area, it’s right across from Riverside Market. It’s an outside only casual eatery with quality and charm.
Should we get down to it?! At first glance, I wanted to try everything on the menu. There wasn’t anything NOT jumping out at me. Kevin talked me down from ordering like 5 sandwiches and here is what we decided to get:
ATLANTA FRIED CHICKEN
Brined breaded chicken breast, caramelized onions, sweet bread & butter pickles, spicy mayo, jalapeno-bacon, pepper jack cheese and cole slaw on a toasted sesame roll. GUYS – this one kind of blew my mind. I’m not gonna lie, I probably loved it so much because there was spicy mayo on it. The crispy chicken with the spicy mayo, the cooling crisp slaw and the sesame bun SANG TO MY SOUL.
SUD PAIRING: Islamorada Ale
HONOLULU PORK SANDWICH
Braised pulled pork, Japanese bbq sauce, spicy pineapple pico and fennel cabbage slaw on a toasted sweet bread hoagie roll. AH – when you bite into this, you just want to close your eyes and bask in it. It’s sweet and savory all at once and makes me want to be on the beach.
SUD PAIRING: Maui Brewing Co. Big Swell
I also suggest getting the cauliflower poppers as one of your sides! It’s full of flavor and insanely delicious.
