Hey Frannnds! So if you’ve ever watched my stories than you know I am kind of obsessed with Cooper’s Hawk. They do it all – they have wine, food, a store. They make all of their own wines – you won’t really find any other brand in there unless they’ve done a collaboration with someone. This forces you to get out of your comfort zone a little bit – there’s something for everyone. There are a few things you can do when you walk in here.
My natural first stop when I arrive in a Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant. There are two types of tastings you can do: The tasting of the month or the standard tasting of the month $7 or the tasting & souvenir wine glass $10. They hand you a sheet of paper with all of the wonderful wines you’ll be tasting. One thing I love noting about this is that you can switch out any of the wines on the sheet for something else. For example: I don’t like Moscato, so if it’s on the paper I switch it out almost every time. There are 8 wines in every tasting. The paper they give you describes the origin, personality and pairing for the wine along with how much sweetness, tannins, alcohol, body and acidity in each. You can either go deep into the tasting if you’re super curious about wine OR you can just shoot back 8 wines – your choice, I don’t judge. Regardless of your choice, the tasting is worth it!
THE DINING ROOM:
Ok you’ve done your tasting and now it’s time to get some food in your belly. I am not even sure where to begin because there are SO many great things on this menu. I’m going to break it down by course.
Chef Matt’s Perfect Pairing Plate- Trio of Cheese: Stracciatella, Buttermilk Bleu, Sartori Parmesan, Honeycomb, Black Fig Jam, Grilled Polenta Crostini. There’s also an optional wine pairing for this! So fun! Everything on the board is phenomenal.
Pork Belly Tostada: Scallions, Sesame Seeds, Cilantro, Radish, Sweet Chili BBQ Sauce. Order two if you have more than 2 people with you.
Calamari: Sweet Chili-Ponzu Glaze, Cilantro, Sesame-Sriracha Aioli. Legit the best calamari I have ever had anywhere.
Crispy Brussels Sprouts: Cashews, Mint, Sweet Thai Chili, Sesame-Sriracha Aioli. Absolutely amazing.
Ginger Soy Glazed Center Cut NY Strip – Wasabi-Buttered Mashed, Oven-Roasted Vegetables. This cut is special just for Coopers Hawk! #FunFact
Pan-Roasted Barramundi – Blistered Green Beans, Grape Tomatoes, Ginger Rice, Thai Lemongrass Sauce. We all know I’m not a fish person BUT this is so mild and the sauce on the bottom is KILLER you guys – I wanted to drink it.
Gnocchi Carbonara: Pancetta, Chicken, Sage, Peas, Parmesan Garlic Cream Sauce. OMG this is out of control. Do it.
Lemon Ice-Wine Cheesecake – Macerated Berries, Graham Cracker Crust. This DOES have Ice-Wine in it, which means alcohol but it’s AMAZING. Does not taste like alcohol at all.
Cooper’s Hawk Chocolate Cake – Valrhona Chocolate, Hazelnut Ganache, Vanilla Ice Cream. Definitly enough to share with maybe 3 people! SO GOOD.
