Holiday time is my JAM! I love all of the warm flavors that surround it. The holidays are also a time of excessive eating and cookie making, so I’m trying to be more health conscious this year. There are plenty of ways to do that and one of them is by incorporating your favorite flavors of the season into some healthy items. Cue in the smoothie – an easy breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the go. Smoothies are a great way to get a ton of nutrients in such a small way. My favorite go-to add in’s are TEN water (a super awesome alkaline water that provides nutrients and minerals for ultimate hydration), Coconut Butter, Collagen Peptides and some greens! If you’re not a greens person, start small – add about ¼ cup or so at first. Fruit provides tons of nutrients but also tons of natural sugars, so I try to limit the quantities of it in my smoothie recipes.
The combo I’ve created for you today is supposed to be reminiscent of the holiday season – who doesn’t love apple pie?! That’s what I thought. No one is passing up the pie this year, we’re having it for breakfast, lunch and dinner 😉 The ingredients are so clean, you definitely could! This apple pie is starring my personal favorite apple, the honey crisp. If you’re making an actual apple pie you would want to use something that is stronger like a granny smith. Since our apple pie is in smoothie form, the honey crisp works so well – it’s sweet and juicy.
Let me know what you guys think of this recipe, and most importantly if it reminds you of good old apple pie! Happy Holidays my beautiful friends! Lots more festive recipes coming your way in just a few very short weeks!
